Scotland & the Highlands £219 - Weekend
Pack your bagpipes for this heritage tour of Scotland that takes to you from the lowlands of Edinburgh to the Highlands and Loch Ness.
On the way, follow the trail of highlanders like William Wallace and Robert Bruce, fight it out with the MacDonald and Campbell clans, and see some of the most dramatic scenery in the British Isles.
Itinerary
Day 1: Edinburgh
After travelling by train from London, your trip to Scotland starts with a walking tour of Edinburgh. You then have some free time to explore the city on your own. You might choose to visit the Scotch Whiskey Heritage Centre, for example, or the Palace of Holyrood House.
Day 2: Wallace Monument/Highlands/Loch Ness
On day 2 we visit the Wallace Monument, commemorating William ‘Braveheart’ Wallace\'s stand against Edward II in the battle of Stirling Bridge. You\'ll also have the chance to admire the craggy mountain landscape of Glencoe and Rannach Moor.
From there we travel Urquhart Castle, a romantic ruin perched on the shores of Loch Ness, also being according to legend home to the monster \'Nessie\'.Day 3: Culloden/Pilotchry/Whisky Distillery
On the third day of your tour, we go to the site of the last highland charge, Culloden Moor, where you will visit both Culloden Battlefield and Exhibition.
Then on to Pilotchry set under the dramatic skyline of Ben Vrackie.The final Highland visit will be to a whisky distillery for a wee sample of a dram! .
