This two day tour takes you to York where Romans ruled, Vikings raged and medieval monks meditated.

Battleground for the Scots and English, Yorkshire is also Bronte country, where Heathcliff ambled on winswept moors and steam railways carved their way through craggy mountain landscapes

Itinerary

• Day 1: York

  Explore a medieval labyrinth built on foundations of Roman ruins and Viking settlements. Watch the layers of York’s dramatic history unfold as you tour York Minster, wend your way through narrow cobbled streets and hear the city’s stories, before stopping off for some scones and clotted cream in one of York’s many tearooms. In the evening enjoy a ghost tour in England’s most haunted city.

• Day 2: Fountains Abbey and Bronte Country

  On the second day of our tour we take you to the tranquil Fountains Abbey set in the Yorkshire Dales National Park. Our tour gives you the chance to wander the cloisters as if with these medieval monks as they prayed, ate, slept and worked within the abbey’s tranquil confines.

  We then travel south through a land of stonewalls, waterfalls, and rolling dales toward Haworth, a Victorian town that will take you back 150 years. Home of the Brontes; a town perched on the edge of the haunting moors that inspired Wuthering Heights and Jane Eyre and dark characters like Heathcliff. p>
